What We're Reading 10/19/2011

While the stock performance has been dreadful, RIMM continues to gain subscribers.  I still believe there is tremendous value here at current levels ($22). Long RIMM

Should investors revisit SHLD?  While I have been long previously, FCF is deteriorating too quickly and is a short.  Short SHLD

AMZN, the Company That Ate the World.  Interesting read, I finally understand why they bought Zappos (buy any potential competitor that offers the same great customer service).  I love Amazon the company but hate the stock as it trading like CSCO in 2000.  Short AMZN

Closing stores and/or downsizing stores.  BBY (long), GPS (long), LOW (no position).  I am also short SPG as a macro play on vacancies.  SPG is a good operator and am looking for more specific names.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Equinox (EQIX) the first sign of market leaders faltering?

The small revenue miss for Equinox (EQIX) caused quite a bit of collateral damage today in the Cloud computing space.  VMware (VMW), F5 Networks (FFIV), Akamai Technologies (AKAM), Salesforce.com (CRM), and Citrix Systems (CTXS) were all down 7+%.  This could be a sign that we are at a short term top in the markets.

Other high flying stocks that have faltered this week are Netflix (NFLX),Open Table (OPEN) Baidu (BIDU), Amazon (AMZN), and Priceline (PCLN).

Apple (AAPL) is still holding up nicely.  If AAPL falters, look out below.
